Entering
Registrations are
taken at the clubhouse after scrutineering.
If you are late for scrutineering you may have to run off the back of
the grid all day.
Scrutineering
checks that your kart is fit to race.
Numbers should be on front, rear and both sides. It is normal to use numbers which form some
part of your NZKF licence number, but you may use any 2 digit number. If your number conflicts with another in the
same class you may be required to change it.
Numbers can be bought from kart shops at the track on club days.
Drivers who have
not raced before must carry a clearly visible 'X' on the rear of the kart. This may only be removed when a steward
considers that a driver has reached a minimum capability level. Karts with an 'X' run off the back of the
grid.
Shop
The club shop
stocks hot food, drinks and confectionery.
Refreshments are available after racing.
Prizegiving
You are welcome to
stay for prize giving which starts about 30 minutes after racing finishes.
Tidiness
Please keep the
pits clear of rubbish and discarded parts by using the rubbish bins provided
and if fuel is spilled on the asphalt please clean it as soon as possible
before it dissolves the asphalt.
The clubhouse
should be kept in a reasonable state.
We ask for your cooperation.
Non-Club Day Practice
You may not drive
a kart without another person present.
This other person must be capable of obtaining or giving assistance in
the event of an accident.
Practice sessions
are for a maximum of 15 minutes if another kart is waiting. Separate sessions are required for
Midgets/Cadets, Junior Restricted, Juniors, and Seniors, ie only karts from one
of these classes may be on the track at any one time.
Protective
clothing and an approved helmet, as per the NZKF Licence book, must be used
during any practice session.
The Club does not
charge practice fees. - these form part of your subscription.
The track is
available to members on any non-Club day unless otherwise advised in the Club
magazine. Please restrict your usage to
between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
Track Access
A key must be
obtained which will open the gate. The
key does not allow entry to the clubhouse, which is additionally protected by
an alarm system.
To obtain a key :
Contact Peter
Cartwright, 430 Moores Valley Rd, Wainuiomata, 04 564 7114. Your key will cost $20.00 initially and can
be exchanged for a replacement key each year for $5.00.
Your Responsibilities
When you open the
gate you must lock it again when you have entered. This ensures that non-club members do not enter without your
knowledge and provide a possible conflict with OSH requirements.
You may practice
only between 9am and 5pm. Practice
outside these hours may result in your being expelled from the Club and will
certainly create problems with the Clubs neighbours.
You are
responsible for making sure that the track and buildings are secure when you
leave. If you found (or created) any
damage to the track or buildings please ring the President or Secretary as soon
as possible. The Club carries
comprehensive insurance.
You may allow
another member to enter if you are satisfied that the person is a current
financial member. You are responsible
for making sure that that person leaves before you do, so that the track is
left locked.
Keys are of
restricted form and cannot be duplicated without permission of the Club
Executive.
A telephone is
located in the starters box - dial 1 for an outside line. It is toll barred.
Non-Member use of WKC Track and facilities
If you are a full
driving member you may bring a prospective driver for trial laps. Before driving, this person must sign an
indemnity form (in the Club magazine) and you must forward the form to the
Secretary as soon as possible. The
person must wear full protective equipment as required by NZKF rules.
A membership
application must be made if any further practice sessions are considered. Forms are available from the Secretary or
kart shops.
Unauthorised
Persons
Please ensure that
no unauthorised person uses your facilities and protect your clubs facilities
against damage by making sure that everything is secure before you leave.
Animals
Animals are not
permitted on or around Club property.
This is a strict requirement of our lease and serious consequences could
arise if this is not complied with.
Additional Information
Committee
If you have any
questions please ask a Committee member.
Names and phone numbers are in the Club magazine. Suggestions for improvements are welcomed.
Magazine
The Club publishes
a magazine, free to members. The Editor
welcomes articles and any other bits of news members may hear. Phone the Editor for further details. The magazine has a free advertising section
for members 'for sale or wanted' advertisements.
Working Bees
The Club holds
several working bees each year. Details
are either in the club magazine or you may be phoned. You will be levied $25.00 per working bee (up to a maximum of
$75.00) after one year if you have not attended three working bees in the year. There is no karting on a working bee day.
A lot of satisfaction
can be gained from helping with a specific project, as well as getting to know
your fellow club members.
WPKA & NZKF Events
The Wellington
Provincial Karting Association promotes a series of races at Wellington,
Manawatu, Hastings and New Plymouth, known as the Gold Star series. Details of the series are published each
year in the WPKA calendar. These are
available from the Club Secretary.
The New Zealand
Karting Federation supervises a series of events at Island or National
level. Details appear in KartSport, the
magazine you receive with your racing licence.
Club Championships
The Club holds two
championship events each year
Club Championships
- run over two days in January/February each year. Results of nine out of ten heats count.
Points Championship
- run over all normal Club days and the Club Championships. Placings are aggregated and all except worst
placing counts. Non-entrants on any one
club day get points equal to the number of race entries in the class plus one.
Kartports
These are available for lease by club members. Please ask the Secretary for details. Note that unless you have permission from the leaseholder you are not allowed to use a kartport without asking a committee member.
The track area was formed with a large amount of labour in a swampy gully, and maintenance requirements are high. For this reason the Club levies a grounds maintenance fee added to the race fee and has several working bees per year. The track is closed for the day for these. Some members may wish to help but may find it impossible to attend, so allocated jobs may be available to be accomplished within a set timescale.
Constitution and Rules
The Club is governed by its formal Constitution and Rules, which may only be modified at an Annual or Special General Meeting. This information leaflet is a brief summary of some of these rules, Committee rulings and general information, however in the event of contention the formal Constitution and Rules take precedence.
Please note that
the formal Constitution allows for revocation of privileges for various
infringements.
