WKC Racing Classes & Awards

Note: Unless otherwise stated all racing rules and technical specifications are in accordance with the latest NZKF Rule Book.

1 Classes to be raced
1.1 Midget As per NZKF 12.11
1.2 Cadet As per NZKF 12.1
1.3 Junior 100cc Yamaha As per NZKF 12.3
1.4 100cc Club Class Yamaha As per NZKF 12.12
1.5 100cc Yamaha Light As per NZKF 12.5
1.6 100cc Yamaha Heavy As per NZKF 12.6
1.7 125cc National As per NZKF 12.7
1.8 Open As per NZKF either 12.7, 12.8, 12.10, 12.11
1.9 Senior Novice As per NZKF either 12.5, 12.6, 12.7, 12.8 or12.9 except for tyres which are unrestricted. All Novice drivers to be unrated on the day.
1.10 Junior Restricted 100cc Yamaha As per NZKF 12.2
Note: Drivers can only compete in one Senior Yamaha class or in one of Midget and Cadet in one day.
2 Grand Prix
2.1 Grand Prix race length for Club Days to be decided by the Club Steward and Club Captain/President on the day depending on entry and timing.
2.2 Grand Prix race lengths for Club Championships to be as follows.

Midget 15 laps

Cadet 15 laps

Junior Restricted 15 laps

Junior 20 laps

Novice 20 laps

Senior 25 laps

2.3 Grid Draws

All Grand Prix grid draws will be "out of the hat".

Senior Grand Prix Recognition

The first three overall will be recognised as will the first Open, first 125cc National, first 100cc Yamaha Light, and first 100cc Yamaha Heavy.

2.5 A driver other than the person who drove the kart in the heats on a Club day may drive in the Grand Prix, subject to having already passed scrutineering and paid a race fee, or to passing scrutineering and paying a race fee of $5.00. It is this drivers responsibility to notify race control, pay any entry fee and notify the Steward of the day before entering the Grand Prix.
3 Enduro Events (Normally held on August Club Day.)
3.1 Midget Enduro

- grid draw "out of the hat"

- 15 minute duration

- maximum one driver per kart

- kart specifications as per 1.1 at the end of the race

- one compulsory pit stop, driver must exit kart during pit stop

3.2 Cadet Enduro - grid draw 'out of hat'

- 15 Minute duration

- maximum one driver per kart

- Kart specifications a per 1.2 at end of race

- one compulsory pit stop, during which driver must exit kart

May be run concurrently with Midget Enduro depending on entry numbers

3.3 Junior Restricted Enduro

- grid draw "out of the hat"

- 15 minute duration

- maximum one driver per kart

- kart specification as per 1.10 at the end of the race

- one compulsory wheel change

3.4 Junior Enduro

- grid draw "out of the hat"

- 15 minute duration

- maximum one driver per kart

- kart specification as per 1.4 at the end of the race

- one compulsory wheel change

3.5 Novice Enduro

- grid draw "out of the hat".

- 30 minute duration.

- maximum of one driver per kart.

- kart specifications as per 1.9 at the end of the race.

- one compulsory wheel change.

- maximum fuel tank 5 litres.

3.6 Senior Enduro

- grid draw "out of the hat".

- 60 minute duration.

- maximum of two drivers per kart.

- kart specifications as per either 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 or 1.8 at the end of the race.

- two compulsory pit stops including one compulsory wheel change.

- fuel tank 5 litres maximum capacity or larger but marked at 5 litres by the technical officer and scrutineered during the race as not being filled above that level with the levelling mark rechecked at teching.

- first three overall recognised plus first Open, first 125cc Gearbox, first 100cc Yamaha Light, and first 100cc Yamaha Heavy.

- each driver in two driver teams must weigh in to meet the MAUW for the class entered (eg if Yamaha Heavy each driver plus kart must weigh in at 150kg at the conclusion of the race.

- No weight, except for fuel and driver in normal racing attire, may be added to or removed from the kart during pit stops.

4 Club Championships
4.1 Timing

- to be held during January and February each year.

4.2 Racing and Results

- to be held over two days racing with normal 5 heat per day format and results calculated after dropping worst performance over the two days, i.e. 9 heats count DNS and DQ as per NZKF Rules.

The length of heats will be stated in the Entry Form Information sheet and be reconfirmed at Drivers Briefing each day. However the Convenor still reserves the right to shorten heats at his/her discretion. Should this occur all drivers will be notified, on the grid, before commencement of their first affected heat.

4.3 Eligibility

- competitors must be full Junior, Senior or Family Members of the Club to be eligible to enter the Club Championships.

4.4 Champion of Champions' Grand Prix

  - to be eligible for the Senior Champion of Champions' Grand Prix, competitors must have completed at least three heats at each of that year's Club Championship rounds.

5 Annual Points Championship

The Annual Points Championship is designed to recognise successful drivers who compete regularly during the year.

Results are calculated as follows:

5.1 All Club Days except Xmas Fun Day and Enduro Day count plus the result of the Club Championships (ie final combined result of both C.C. rounds).
5.2 The Championship will commence at the August Club Day and conclude at the July Club Day each year.
5.3 Points will be awarded for each class as follows:

 - 1st overall on the day = 1 point

- 2nd overall on the day = 2 points (etc)

- Not entered on the day = number of entries plus one point

 No points will be awarded when a class is not run on the day.

5.4 Calculation of Final Result

Points scored in each class will be totaled and then the driver's worst result or did not enter will be subtracted to calculate the final points, when drivers are disqualified for technical or other infringements etc from a meeting, this result cannot be dropped in calculating the final points. Disqualified drivers will be credited with last place for the meeting concerned. The driver with the lowest points wins. Ties as per NZKF system.

5.5 The placegetters in each class will be recognised. Drivers changing classes will be counted in each class separately.

Club Championship Prizes A token or trophy shall be provided for all competitors from Junior, Junior Restricted, Cadet and Midget classes.

5.6 Progress scores will be published on the notice board, on a regular basis.
5.7 Classes to be contested - Midget, Cadet, Junior Restricted, Junior, Clubclass, Heavy, Light and Open.
6 Special Awards/Trophies

The following Special Awards and Trophies are presented annually at the AGM.

6.1 Club Person of the Year (A person, not necessarily a racer, who has achieved much for the Club in a non-racing capacity)

By secret ballot vote of Members at the AGM. Nominations from the floor. Highest polling nominee wins.

6.2 Sportsperson of the Year (A senior racing member of the Club who has acted both on and off the track in a sportspersonlike manner)

By secret ballot vote of Members at the AGM. Nominations from the floor. Highest polling nominee wins.

6.3 Junior Sportsperson of the Year

By vote of Committee immediately prior to AGM. Nominations by Committee Members. 

6.4 Rookie of the Year

By vote of Committee immediately prior to AGM. Nominations by Committee Members. 

6.5 Colin Surrey Motors Dedication Award

By vote of Committee immediately prior to AGM. Nominations by Committee Members.

7 Race Fees
7.1 Midget and Cadet
  • per Club Day $13.00 (inc GST)
7.2 Junior Restricted
  • per Club Day $15.00 (inc GST)
7.3 Junior & Senior
  • per Club Day $18.00 (inc GST)
  • NZKF One Day Licences $30.00 (incl GST) for Senior Novice only i.e. total payment of $48.00 (incl GST) to race at a club day
7.4 Associate Members
  • per Club Day Normal class fee plus $5.00 (inc GST)
7.5 Maximum Fees per Family
  • $40.00
