| For more than 10 years I have been
designing and making Teddy Bears - not just for myself, but for classes, conventions, and
leading publishers and manufacturers. |

| At first, my bears were made for fun -
and as an alternative to my original porcelain dolls. |
| Gradually the bears took over, with
more people wanting me to teach them how to make traditional teddies, and demanding an ever-increasing range
of easy to follow patterns. |
| Now more than fully
‘Bear’ employed, I have a teaching circuit covering New Zealand. New South Wales
and South Australia. I manage the annual Midwinter Doll & Teddy Bear Festival in
Auckland (New Zealand). and am continually expanding the range of easy to follow available
by mail order. ** Rose’s inspiration may
come from a name. a fabric or even a colour - when she started it was often necessary to
dye fabrics to get good ‘bear’ colours. Now there is an enormous variety of fur
fabric available for Bearmakers.
The Rose’s Patterns bear models
are generally made up in mohair - these are available through any specialist Teddy Bear
stores, and many craft and fabric outlets. |
