Walter Howkins was christened in Stoke Lyne, Oxfordshire, 24 March 1858.
He married Eliza Doel in Waimate 12 March 1890.
Involved in the sawmilling industry in Waimate, a good account of his family
was published in a newspaper article in 1984.
Walter died in Waimate 3rd June 1924, Eliza died Waimate 26 July 1956 at age 81.
Both are buried at Waimate.

Flora born 8 February 1908, died Waimate 12 August 1998. One daughter 1936-2001.

4.Ernest Hawkins.
Born Waimate 16 January 1905, married Olive Laura Hoskings Johns 1927, died
Waimate 9 March 1998. Two children. Descendants in Waimate area.
5.Mabel Hawkins.
Born Waimate 7 February 1919. Married William Croft 7 February 1977.
William was born 18 November 1918, the son of George & Hettie Croft.
Mabel died in Waimate 29 December 1977, William died 12 May 1992. One child.
