Ernest Jesse Whipp was born in Pahia 22 June 1903.
He married Sarah Gladys Connell, daughter of John and Sarah Elizabeth Connell [
nee Hanning], at St. Mary's Anglican Church Riverton on 16 March 1927. On their
marriage certificate he was aged 23, a cheesemaker, batchelor, birthplace Pahia,
residence Thornbury. Sarah is age 22, spinster, birthplace Invercargill, residence
Thornbury. Witnesses were Sarah's father John Connell, farmer Thornbury, and William
Lock, clerk, Invercargill.
Ernest died In Invercargill 7 October 1941.

The death occurred recently of Mr Ernest Jesse Whipp, of Pahia, a son of the late Mr and Mrs J Whipp. He was born at Pahia 37 years ago. He attended the school at Pahia and was afterwards engaged in the sawmilling industry, and was for a time at the Thornbury dairy factory, where he was foreman. He was married 13 years ago to Miss S.G. Connell at Riverton and about seven years ago they took up a farm at Pahia, where he took a keen interest in local affairs. He was chairman of the local Patriotic Committe, chairman and secretary of the Pahia School Committe, section leader of the Home Guard, a keen member of the Pahia Bowling Club and a member of the Pahia Hall Committee. He is survived by his widow and five young children.Sarah married John Thomas Tecofsky [Jack], she died in Christchurch 13 April 1977. Jack died 9 September 1974.
