Edward Whip was christened in Stanford in the Vale, Berkshire on 24 August 1701, son
of Robert Whip and Mary [nee Newman]. Spelling fluctuates between Whip and Whipp, the actual spelling
on baptism records has been used.
The Whipp ancestry can be traced back to Robert
Whip born abt. 1659 in Shellingford, Berkshire. Because of the extensive family
tree starting at 1659 and the fact that most of the information is available on
the LDS familysearch website, I have not included that information.
Edward married Mary Penstone, daughter of William and Elizabeth [nee Beezley] at Stanford in the Vale 28 November 1726. On an old map of the village in 1883 Penstones is mentioned, it is difficult to read but could be Barn.
It is not know when Edward died, there is no mention in the parish Register, Mary was buried on 26 August 1770.
