Sam, Roz, Jess and Jasper.

This is Sam, he's 2.5 years old now and 43 Kgs (about 95 pounds).   He's a Lab X, with a Rotti I think.  He is a very quiet gentle dog but an excellent guard dog, he will bark and make his presence known if he thinks he needs to.  He is very well behaved and very obiedient.  He also thinks he is a lap dog and will quite happily sit on my lap on the couch if I let him.  He is very active and really looks forward to "walkies", but despite having Lab in him he hates swimming and will only paddle up to his knees.  He is very social with people and other dogs and loves to romp about any chance he gets.  We got him when he was 10 months old from the SPCA.

Here's Roz. She is a German Shepherd/Staffi cross. She is 1.5 years old now and is Sams best friend.  She use to bully Sam despite only weighing in at 26 Kgs (umm 57 pounds) just over half Sams weight but Sam has learnt to hold his own now and gives as good as he gets. We got her from the Humane Society when she was 4 months old, she was/is blind in her left eye due we think to a cat and was rescued from the pound by the Humane Society on the day she was due to be put down (the pound said no one would want a one eyed dog).  She is a lovely dog and loves 'walkies" as much as Sam, she also loves her "Kong on a rope" and enjoys tug with me or Sam.  Roz will swim any chance she gets and also loves running through mud and has no problems about getting dirty.  She is very social too and loves to meet other dogs in her very "forward" manner, no shyness here!  She is also very alert and a good guard dog.

Jasper was a kitten when we got him and grew up with Sam so as far as he is concerned dogs are just part of life. He's about 2 years old now.  He has no fear of the dogs at all and regularly brushes up to Roz's legs if they are in the kitchen.   He's a typical selfish cat and is friendly only when it suits HIM!

Jess is Jaspers foster mum ( we got them both from the SPCA, in fact we picked Jess the day we saw Sam for the first time).  Jess is about 3.5 years old.   She used to play real hard with Jasper when he was a wee ball of fluff, but Jaspers never forgotton "those days" and now he torments poor Jess.  They used to sleep together but now they only tolerate each other, I think they both prefer the dogs to each other.  Jess is a real attention seeker and usually jumps up on the computer desk so I can't see the screen and brushes her face against mine.
