If there's one thing New Zealand has a lot of it's open country and wind. What better way to traverse across those long beaches like Muriwai, Baileys Beach, Long Bay or Raglan than on windpower driven wheels. Otherwise you could just fly away the afternoon "painting sky" with a good kite.
Seeing as there is as yet little or no information on the New Zealand kitescene I've decided to create this. Kiting is a interests and past-time persuit shared by many in the country.
Few people know that New Zealand was the location of the kite traction "revolution" if I could be so bold as to call it that. It used to be a popular past-time favoured only by the eccentric among us. Not anymore! A man by the name of Peter Lynn started designing powerfoils and buggies a few years ago and his excellent work soon became well sought after internationally. The local kiting community is ever growing and in some towns like Nelson and Raglan kiting has been popularised to an anual event.

These pages have been created to cover those events in a casual basis and to provide information on forthcoming events.
