Slovenia after Six is set in the fictional Auckland suburb of Kingsborough. Its main shopping and business precinct peaked in the 1980s, and the local shops are starting to look a little worse for wear...

The principal areas of interest in our film:
- Mr Suck, the vacuum cleaner store. Val fell into this job after university, and is 'getting around' to finding something different. It's sterile and a bit harsh, an environment that's not helped by the language barrier with the owner - Mr Sakamoto.
- Garry's Auto, a second-hand car yard. Quite a busy place - but perhaps not everything going on there is car-related... Frank has never seen the owner, Garry despite having worked there for 18 months. His nemesis is Corky, Frank's supervisor at the yard.
- Xanadu, the local diner and java fix. It's a busy, tidy, warm place. It's a safe place for Fay, both personally and career wise.
- The Bible Dealership, a book exchange of a theological nature. There's a certain young lady at the counter that Frank has ideas about.
