Cast...
Meet the lead actors:
Ben Mabon (Val) "I've been involved with film since an early age. That is to say I have watched a lot of films. More recently I decided to try my hand in-front of the camera and have appeared in two short films by acclaimed (in their own right) production house Early Morning Productions. I’ve attended numerous short film and TV courses and completed an horrific course in performance and technical stage-craft, which I have to say is entirely irrelevant unless my role calls for tap-dancing, and even then...I work full-time in a totally non-related field but am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the great cast and crew I have already met as part of Slovenia After Six.
Fleur Fitzpatrick (Fay) 29 year old Fleur Fitzpatrick grew up on Auckland's North Shore , and recently became an honourary "westie" when she fell in love and married a musician from Avondale. First treading the boards in community theatre at 13 years old, Fleur has gone on to perform in over 40 plays and musicals. Upon completing her Diploma of Performing Arts in 1995 Fleur moved to England to pursue the arts and enjoyed a role in Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood" in the London Fringe venue "The Drill Hall Theatre". More recently Fleur spent 5 months in 2004 touring New Zealand schools as tour manager and performer for The Ugly Shakespeare Company, and played the role of Gilmer in "Godspell" professionally in 2003 & 2004. Fleur is a keen pianist, singer and composer having her first 60 minute operetta "Shellshock" performed in 2001
Marius Botha (Frank) "I started doing acting and voice classes early in 2005 in the evenings and over weekends. I've trained with tutors such as Alison Hoffer, Mark Ingram, John Watson, Lynda Cartwright, Sylvia Rands, Jacque Drew, Jeanene Savelkouls, Sally Spencer-Harris, Paulus Romijn, Elena Stejko, and Greta Seacat and have done various short films. I'm currently working on a short film script, as well as a feature film script with a friend. To me Slovenia After Six is so much like life. It's funny without trying too hard, yet it's dramatic but not overly so. It's exciting and challenging and I'm looking forward to showcase and hone my skills with the other amazing actors in the cast. I can't wait to start!"
Zoe Hobson (Mary) "Kia ora.. I'm a 22 yr old actress from Dunedin. I've been acting all my life, and love it! Growing up in Dunedin I have been involved in a lot of theatre, and I completed an honours degree in Maori Studies and Theatre Studies at Otago University before moving to Auckland in 2003. Since living in Auckland I have been involved in a number of short films, and small parts on larger projects such as King Kong. I currently study Meisner (an acting technique) with Michael Saccente, which I love. I'm really looking forward to working on Slovenia after Six!"
