Welcome to our speedway site.
The ‘See Bros” speedway site was set up to keep people, mainly family, friends, sponsors and so forth informed on our progress within Alastair’s and Jeff’s preferred speedway classes.
Alastair races in the Streetstock division:
Streetstocks are the only national speedway class that holds true to the roots of the sport, being constructed from a road car and turned into a racing machine. Streetstocks are now the most road like cars currently racing on Speedway tracks today. These cars are basically former road cars, stripped of all internal fittings and fitted with fuel tank, seat, and, roll-cage to strengthen the chassis while externally the car is required to have a front and rear bumper mounted for limited contact.
Alastair in the last few years has been consistent in qualifying for most championships he has entered. At this stage the big ones have eluded him but we all live in hope.
Most people would remember Ali’s cars as predominately Holden Commodore’s with the number 36s and Mobil sponsorship on the side.
Jeff races in the Superstock division:
Super Stocks (previously known as A-Grade Stockcars) are the glamour class of New Zealand speedway, and have delighted crowds through out New Zealand for 40 years. While the cars have become more sophisticated and powerful over time, the full contact nature of the racing continues to deliver entertainment to thousands of fans every weekend. Today's purpose built racecars boast the latest technological advancements, but they still comply with the engine and weight restrictions of 30 years ago (1400-1500kg). Most run Quick change Diffs, Chev, Ford, Nissan or Toyota V8 Motors, and run Purpose built race tyres.
Jeff has raced spasmodically in the last few years probably owning more cars and getting them sold before racing them .(A few young drivers have had the opportunity to race his cars while Jeff stayed on the sideline with club, family and business interests to attend to.) Helen has given him the green light to race again, so the cheque book came out and a useful Kuriger car from Auckland was bought.
Jeff races the Orange and Blue SuperStock with 14s on the side.
