Each year, the countries with which ICYE-New Zealand will exchange with, are allocated by the International Federation in Germany.
ICYE-New Zealand can request specific countries, if notified by September each year.

The
12 month ICYE programme costs NZ$4500,- per participant.
This excludes airfares and costs associated with obtaining the
correct visas.
The
six month ICYE programme costs NZ$3000,- per participant.
This excludes airfares and costs associated with obtaining the
correct visas.
These prices are correct as of December 1999, please contact us for the latest prices.
These
prices do include transport within your host country, transport to and from
all ICYE conferences,
accommodation for a whole year, administration costs, medical
insurance and pocket money.
Exchangees organise their own travel arrangements to and from their host country, and must have a valid passport and obtain the correct visas before departure.

ICYE
does not currently have an active organisation in Australia, nor amongst the
Pacific Islands.
ICYE-NZ is able to provide exchange opportunities to residents
of Australia, Samoa, Fiji, the Cook Islands and other Pacific Island countries.

Just send for an application form, either by post, fax, telephone, or email us.
Tell us which countries you are interested in, along with your name, address and contact telephone number.
Once
the completed application form has been returned to ICYE-New Zealand,
the applicants will be contacted or visited by an ICYE-New Zealand
committee member or coworker.
Selections are then made, and preparations for you year away begin!
An ICYE
preparation seminar is held, prior to your departure.
Here you will be able to meet other outgoing exchangees, former
exchangees, and the exchangees currently in New Zealand.

The ICYE programme in other countries
Duration:
Most
exchanges last for 12 months, although six month exchanges are available.
Typically the ICYE programmes runs from August to August.
Although there are options for February to February, February
to July and August to January exchanges.
Some countries (Including Nepal, Thailand, Mexico, Colombia and Switzerland) are now offering short term projects (From three to six weeks) please contact us for more information.

The Orientation and Language camp
The
Orientation and Language camp is typically one to three weeks in duration.
This is where the exchangees are introduced to the local lifestyle,
traditions, culture, and receive language instruction.
You will meet the people who will be sharing the exchange year
with you, and the ICYE team who are here to help you!
The 'midyear' conference
This
takes place anytime between November and January.
This is where the Exchangees evaluate the first half of their
year, share stories, experiences and photographs,
and set goals for the rest of their time in their host country.
The final conference
This
is where you will evaluate your ICYE year, and farewell many of your friends.
Quite often, you will meet exchangees where are about to leave
on their exchange years.

Work projects vary from country to country.
Some countries also offer High School programmes.
Projects
can include; Working with Disabled people, working in Kindergartens, working
with the Elderly,
working in youth centres and community centres, working on farms,
working for environmental groups, and teaching languages or other skills.

Hostfamilies and accommodation
ICYE will organise accommodation for you.
Accommodation will either be with a hostfamily, in your work project, in a flatting situation, or in some cases, individually.

The
travel month is where you are free to explore your host country, at your own
expense.
Travel month is usually the last month of your exchange year.

Throughout
the year, Exchangees or Coworkers will organise get togethers and visits.
Of course, these optional activities are at the Exchangees expense.
