What is the ICYE Federation ?
The lives of thousands of people have been forever changed by the ICYE programme.
ICYE has helped build bridges of peace, justice and understanding through personal encounters. This has been our goal for the last 50 years.
ICYE is one of the most experienced, personal and flexible programmes in the field of youth mobility and youth exchange.
Our programmes have been constantly revised and modified, to reflect the changes in our society at a local, national and global level.
The International Christian Youth Exchange (ICYE) was founded in 1949, from the heritage of the christian church as a post World War two reconciliation programme between Germany and the United States of America.
Since then, many more countries have joined the federation of ICYE.
ICYE is open to all people who subscribe to the stated aims and purposes of ICYE, regardless of religious affiliation.
Today, the ICYE Federation is an international, independent, non-profit making organisation, with over 30 participating countries. These countries cover the entire globe: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Pacific.
The headquarters of the federation are in Berlin, Germany.
ICYE has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, maintains operational relationships with the World Council of Churches, and is a member of the coordinating Committees for Voluntary Services and Mobility International.
What is ICYE - Asia/Pacific?
ICYE-Asia/Pacific region is a member of the ICYE federation, and consists of the ICYE National Committees of India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan.
Other countries have recently become associate members of the Asia Pacific Regional Group.
Since the member countries are wide ranging in geographical locations, languages and cultures, ICYE-Asia/Pacific is the most diverse regional group of the ICYE federation.
