Designer Profile - Renton Hunger
Renton has had a 35 year history of building and racing kayaks. In the past he operated a manufacturing firm called Kayak Moulders which produced the Penguin River Kayak, one of which was the first kayak I ever paddled. After a change in direction he recently returned to kayaking through entering the Coast to Coast. Renton's current sea kayak designs are built using the Strip method.

Length over all: 5.8m
|
Maximum Beam: 0.54m

Approx. Weight:
23kg*

The Celeste has been designed as a comfortable, seaworthy craft with an added extra - Its FAST. With a waterline length of 18' this kayak has a theoretical cruising speed of 5.69 knots which can easily be exceeded on the water. The full bow allows the kayak to ride over waves while the peaked deck will quickly shed any water that gets past it.

Maximum Beam: 0.60m

Approx. Weight:32kg

A very fast double with a proven race record. Despite its narrow width the Galaxy can handle any sea conditions you would care to paddle in. A versatile sea kayak which will allow the builder to tour and camp from it one weekend then race it the next. From the words of the designer "It is awesome!"
* Weights quoted are approximate. Like all wooden kayaks, they depend on the amount of excess epoxy and the type of the wood used.
