Because there are six GPs you can choose the doctor who best suits you and you can choose to always see that doctor. Our appointments are for a full 15 minutes so you won’t be rushed through – there is always time to discuss issues, treatment choices and to get clear explanations.

Accidents and Injuries

Early attention is always best and we provide treatment for a wide range of accidents and injuries. Obviously you may not have time to book an appointment, but with six GPs working here, you’re unlikely to be waiting long. We’re close to you in the city and can visit you at home or work if necessary. There is easy access to physiotherapy and podiatry which are on the same floor as High Street Medical Centre.

Adolescent Health

We realise that for many adolescence can be a difficult time. We are committed to listening and providing reassurance, clear information and reliable advice on healthy lifestyles. All of us are experienced in sexual health issues and are more than happy to discuss any concerns with you in complete confidence.

After Hours Services

When we are closed, our phone lines are diverted to the 24 Hour Surgery on the corner of Bealey Avenue and Colombo Street. No matter what the time of day, you will be able to get advice from a nurse or even see one of the duty doctors.

Children's Health

Children are not just little adults; they have there own special health needs and we are more than happy to see them and advise if any treatment is needed.. In addition, we provide a full immunisation service.

Immigration Medicals

We provide a streamlined service for people wishing to have immigration medical assessments. All blood tests are performed on site and we will also arrange any necessary x-rays. We are Christchurch’s only designated medical centre for US and Canadian immigration assessments.

Men's Health

Well Man health checks. An annual WOF for yourself.

We offer a full range of health care for men ranging from Well Men Health Checks through to sexual health issues (which includes erectile problems and, if indicated, prescribing Viagra) and screening for common conditions. All matters will be dealt with in a sympathetic matter and in strictest confidence.

Minor surgery

All doctors are experienced in minor surgery (such as mole removal) and are happy to discuss whether surgery is appropriate

Remember early assessment and treatment are the surest way to a speedy recovery. Associated physiotherapy and podiatry services are available on the same floor to allow comprehensive treatment for all your sports injuries.

Travel Medicine

If you’re going overseas then you need to plan ahead. High Street Medical Centre provides comprehensive travel advice on appropriate vaccinations and malaria prevention.

We advise a full consultation 6 weeks before leaving for major trips to allow adequate time to plan and administer the vaccines.

Obstetrics & Maternity

Full or shared maternity care is available during pregnancy. We are happy to explain all of your options to you. Deliveries at local hospitals can be arranged with Dr Graeme Carpenter.
