OFFICIAL SELECTION SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 1999

A strange woman wanders from town to town - everyone she meets sees in her their own image of perfection - they cannot resist her - and she passes on to them a contagious virus which brings enlightenment...

Visually Venus Blue takes its underlying aesthetic from the 1950s sci-fi - and then plays with contemporary themes to create a modern vision.

Venus takes us on a candy coated journey through the New Zealand landscape. A strange and provoking film, that remains accessible and entertaining to a cross section of viewers.

Venus Blue is the first film on 35mm by Writer/Director, Gillian Ashurst. It was produced by Lara Bowen, in association with her production company, The Limehouse. The Associate Producer was Vanessa Sheldrick.
