Heater Straps on Telescopes

Heater strap wattage is designed for each scope circumference. Maximum wattage for largest scope OTA diameter is 48W. The purpose is to prevent accidental overheating of expensive optics, while allowing the glass to reach a temperature 1-2 degrees above dew point.

Additional 1-meter extension cords allow straps to be used on long refractor telescopes.

Heater strap controllers

　 Heavy duty anodized aluminum controller box allows continuously variable heat settings up to the maximum wattage for each strap. The input power is 12V dc. Up to four straps may be plugged into the controller, allowing up to 100W power to be distributed amongst the straps. The box may be easily attached/detached to the telescope mount by a large Velcro patch, seen on the Losmandy G-11 to the right. The box comes with a 1-meter power cord terminated with a cigarette lighter plug for convenient connection to a car battery. Adaptors may be purchased to allow alligator clip connection to portable batteries such as gelcells.
